A quick introduction on how to use the Torghast TourGuide addon in World of Warcraft
World of Warcraft patch 9.1 introduced several new features in Torghast, like a scoring system. Unfortunately, there is no explanation of what you need to do to maximize your score in-game. That is why I love the addon I am going to talk about in this article. It takes the poorly designed Torghast UI and juices it up with several helpful tools and real-time score tracking. Introducing… Torghast TourGuide!
I’ll walk you through how it works in this guide, but you can also watch the video I made for it (less than 3 minutes long).
What does Torghast TourGuide do?
Simply put, Torghast TourGuide replaces the default Torghast UI with one that is much more helpful. The default UI shows your Phantasma, empowered bar, and a list of anima powers. Torghast TourGuide keeps all these elements but adds other clickable shortcuts for things like anima cells and your Phantasmic Infuser.
Clicking anima cells in the panel has saved me so much time I used to waste searching through my bags.
It will also add a small book icon on the top-left side of the default panel. Clicking on it will open a Torghast dungeon journal that allows you to look up rares, bosses, blessings, and other information related to Torghast.
The other awesome feature in Torghast TourGuide is the score panel. This will appear directly to the left of the main panel and will show your current score, number of deaths, bonus points, and par time (how fast you want to complete the run to get the best score).
A complete list of all possible bonuses will also open when you click on the book on the top-right side of the score panel. It will also keep track of your progress on each bonus, so you know if you are on track for a flawless run!
How to install Torghast TourGuide
You can install Torghast TourGuide through your favorite addon manager or from the CurseForge website. In other words, you can install it like any other addon. If you haven’t installed an addon before, you can check out my detailed addon installation guide.
How to use Torghast TourGuide
Okay, let’s take a closer look at the addon.
Unlike most addons, there is no complicated menu and a slew of settings to wade through before getting started. All you need to do is install the addon and jump into Torghast! As soon as you enter, you’ll be greeted with the expanded UI panels.
Resource Panel
As mentioned, clicking on the book in the resource (right) panel will open up a dungeon journal-style reference for Torghast. The first tab will show stats on your current and past runs.
The next few tabs list out Ve’nari upgrades, your current box of many things progress, blessings, torments, ravenous powers, and anima powers. Torghast Tour Guide will also update the tooltips for mobs to display what power you will receive if you use a ravenous orb on them.
The last couple of tabs show ability information and tips to defeat the rares and bosses you encounter during your run.
You can also do some pretty cool things like setting weights and notes for specific anima powers. Suppose there is a particular anima power you like. In that case, you can go into the anima powers tab and click on the little circle next to a power to set the weight and note. You could use this to rank the powers or leave notes to make selecting buffs easier in future runs.
Score Panel
Okay, let’s move on and talk about the scoring panel now. If you click the book in the score box, it will show every bonus you can earn and how many points it awards. Hovering over the name of the bonus will give a short description of what you need to do to get that bonus.
It will also color coordinate the bonuses to tell you which ones you are on track to earn or have failed. Bonus objectives listed in red are ones which you have failed and can’t get any more. Bonuses listed in green are ones that you have earned so far. Yellow objectives are still up in the air, so you will want to focus on those to ensure you don’t lose them.
The addon also has other helpful features like adding a red X next to anima powers that will void a particular bonus. This is super helpful and saves you the time to open the anima powers list and make sure that you aren’t duplicating powers.
Final Thoughts and Important Links
Torghast TourGuide is a simple but amazing addon! If you often wonder if you are on track to earn flawless or keep stumbling through your bags to find anima orbs, I recommend you check it out. I have loved using it in my recent Torghast runs, and I think you’ll like it as well!
