A quick guide to the Algeth’ar Academy dungeon in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight
Welcome to this Algeth’ar Academy dungeon guide! In this guide, I’ll give you a quick overview of how to get to the dungeon, each boss’s basic mechanics, and some tips that have helped me prepare for my Algeth’ar Academy runs in Dragonflight.
How to Get to the Algeth’ar Academy in Dragonflight – Dungeon Entrance
You can find Algeth’ar Academy (AA) in Thaldraszus — a short dragon-riding flight to the northeast from Valdrakken. The entrance to the dungeon can be found at the bottom of the tower at /way 58.2, 42.4, to the right of the meeting stone.
Algeth’ar Academy Boss Guide
There are four bosses in Algeth’ar Academy, but they can be a brick wall for many m+ groups. I’ll give you a quick second-monitor reference in this guide, but I recommend you also check out a video guide to see what each ability looks like before you start your run.
Here is a quick rundown of the major mechanics for each boss in Algeth’ar Academy:
- Vexamus – Soak orbs before they reach the boss and run out when targeted by a mana bomb. Avoid boss frontal (unless you are the tank, then don’t move). After the boss pushes you back, keep moving because you will drop three pools under your feet that will kill you.
- Overgrown Ancient – Stack on the tank and rotate around the boss during germinate cast to avoid brown swirls (typically clockwise). Kill seeds and adds when they spawn. Single target burn and interrupt the Ancient Branch and then get into the green circle when it dies to remove your bleed.
- Crawth – Spread when the boss uses Deafening Screech, and avoid fire swirls and tornados that appear after scoring three orbs. After the boss reaches about four stacks on the screech debuff, you want to throw three orbs into the fire goal and then use your damage CDs. If the boss doesn’t die, throw the three orbs into the air goal after about four stacks.
- Echo of Doragoas – Run when the boss pulls you in and avoid frontal breath. If you get targeted with Energy Bomb and already have two stacks of Overwhelming Power, run to the edge of the room. Otherwise, avoid orbs and get loot!
Algeth’ar Academy Dungeon Tips
Algeth’ar Academy has a few things to know about going into the dungeon. One of these is the Dragonflight Recruiter buffs you can get.
Dragonflight Recruiter Buffs
One of the cool things about this dungeon is the buffs at the start of the dungeon. After entering the dungeon, you’ll be on top of the tower and need to use the jet air stream to jump across the gap. Upon landing, you’ll be in a large circular area with representatives of each dragonflight.
Each representative has a buff that can be selected for extra stats — but you can only choose one. Here is what each recruiter has to offer:
