A step-by-step guide to unlocking the planet Argus in World of Warcraft
Getting to Argus can be tricky for new and returning players. As content released in the last patch of Legion, Argus is locked behind several quest requirements that aren’t made very clear in the game. In this guide, I’ll go over the Argus unlock requirements step-by-step and hopefully clear up any confusion you have. Before I dive into the details, here is what you need to know at a high level:
To unlock Argus in 2024, you’ll need to reach level 45+ on your character and complete several quests in Legion Dalaran. These questlines include Uniting the Isles, Armies of Legionfall, Assault on Broken Shore, and The Hand of Fate.
Okay, now we can dive into how to get to Legion Dalaran and what you need to do to complete the required quests!
Getting to Legion Dalaran
Option 1- Via Azsuna Portal
If you haven’t been to Legion Dalaran before, you have a couple of options. The first is to take the Azsuna portal found in the Orgrimmar or Stormwind portal rooms and then fly to Dalaran. Once you’ve teleported to Azsuna, you’ll see Dalaran floating in the sky to the southeast.
Option 2 – Via Legion Introduction Questline
Your other option is to complete the Dalaran introduction quests that begin after selecting the “Fight the Legion” option from the command board in Stormwind or Orgrimmar. This will walk you through a scenario that unlocks Dalaran and gives you a hearthstone for quick travel in the future.
If you plan on farming Legion content, completing the short questline to earn the hearthstone is worth it.
Getting to Argus
Step 1 – Uniting the Isles Rep Quest
Now that you’ve made your way to Dalaran, it is time to begin the process of unlocking Argus. To start, you will want to pick up the Uniting the Isles quest from Khadgar in the Violet Citadel on the west side of Dalaran.
Brace yourself; this will not be a fast process because Uniting the Isles requires you to reach friendly rep with 5 Legion factions, including the:
- Nightfallen in Suramar
- Court of Farondis in Azsuna
- Highmountain Tribe in Highmountain
- Dreamweavers in Val’sharah
- Valarjar in Stormheim
To earn this rep, you’ll want to complete quests and objectives in each faction’s respective zone. This is straightforward for all factions except the Nightfallen because a few additional quests are required to unlock Suramar.
To unlock Suramar, you’ll also want to accept and complete the Khadgar’s Discovery quest while picking up Uniting the Isles. Completing the short introduction to the Suramar zone will grant you some rep with the Nightfallen and unlock additional storylines.
While completing Uniting the Isles takes some time, it will pay dividends down the road. If you decide to unlock Argus on an alt, you won’t need to grind the rep again!
Also, completing Uniting the Isles is required for several allied races, including the Nightborne, Void Elves, and Lightforged Draenei. If you need more details on unlocking the allied races, check out my guide to Unlocking Every Allied Race in World of Warcraft.
Step 2 – Broken Shore Introduction Quests
The next step in the process to unlock Argus is to complete the introduction quests to the Broken Shore. This begins with accepting the Armies of Legionfall quest at Krasus’ landing (east side of Dalaran near the flight path).
After a bit of role-play dialogue and quest completion, Khadgar will offer a scenario quest called Assault on Broken Shore. Complete the scenario and turn it in to move one step closer to unlocking Argus.
Step 3 – Argus Introduction Quests
Now that you’re done with Uniting the Isles and the Broken Shore scenario, you are ready to start your journey to Argus! All you need to do is to head back to the Violet Citadel (where you picked up Uniting the Isles in Legion Dalaran) and pick up the quest called The Hand of Fate.
Once you complete The Hand of Fate and a few follow-up quests, you will unlock Argus! For future travel, you’ll want to make sure you complete the Argus storyline up through the quest Rendezvous (about 12 quests in). This will create a Lightforged Beacon on Krasus’ Landing to teleport you back to Argus.
Suppose you are interested in unlocking the Antorus, The Burning Throne raid. In that case, you’ll need to complete the Argus story up through Securing a Foothold.
Getting back to Argus
If you have already unlocked Argus and can’t remember how to get back, it is simple. All you need to do is go to Krasus’ Landing near the Legion Dalaran flight path and use the lightforged beacon.
If you can’t see the lightforged beacon, but you know you have been to Argus before, you may have abandoned the Argus questline before activating the beacon. In that case, you’ll need to head to the docks in Stormwind or Orgrimmar and speak to Veressa Windrunner (A) or Lady Liadrin (H) to get back to Argus.

I can confirm that this method works.
However, if your character is capable of soloing the Tomb of Sargeras dungeon. You will receive the “Hand of Fate” quest which allows you to skip the reputation questlines.

How does that work? Just enter the dungeon and get a quest at the end?
